‘They don’t want us here’ – England fans fume over Boston’s ‘No Scotland, no party’ message England fans have been left feeling trolled by Boston, by some arguing that locals ‘don’t want us here’ following the Three Lions’ 0-0 draw with Ghana. The relationship that was struck up between Bostonians and Scotland during the first week of the World Cup was one of the tournament’s off-field success stories, with the Massachusetts city set to be twinned with Glasgow as a result of the good feeling generated. But that’s not been replicated with English fans, some of whom have complained about the locals’ attitudes towards them. ‘Boston not as welcoming as Dallas’ Scotland supporters left Boston following their 1-0 loss against Morocco on Friday, making way for England fans coming in to support their side in Foxborough for a clash against Morocco. “They closed four pubs on game day, and on all their posts said ‘No Scotland, no party’,” one supporter complained on broadcaster News. “They basically do not want us here. They tried to close everything early at 10 o’clock last night. What’s the point?” Another said: “The World Cup has been a good experience so far. Dallas was amazing. Here, I don’t think they’ve been as welcoming, I’ll be honest with you. They keep talking about the Scottish every single time.” After Scotland’s Tartan Army left for Miami, a local restaurant decided NOT to open for their rival England today. On its Instagram page it posted: “Over the last two weeks, you showed up, stepped up and gave it your all. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. “Thank you for your dedication, teamwork and the positive energy you bring every day. We will see you tomorrow.” It added: “We’ve decided to give our staff a day off and are closing today, they’ve worked incredibly hard over the last 2 weeks and deserve it. Thankfully there’s nothing happening in Boston today so we will be back tomorrow.” England fans, meanwhile, have been praised for their behaviour at the tournament to date, leaving . Bar manager Brian McDonnell told LBC: “We're going through so much beer, and we have only a decent-sized keg room. “We're still going through so much that we had to rent a couple of mobile fridge units that we have out in the back alley so we always have beer rotating through – it's always cold, it's always flowing. “It’s been amazing – Scotland’s like the ideal crowd we could have got. Obviously (they are) big boozers, big partiers – but while doing all that, they caused zero problems. “I said over the last two weeks of madness… I don’t think we’ve had to kick out a single person. There’s been no scraps, no malice from anyone. Everyone’s here for a good time.” Scotland, who qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998, struck up a special relationship with Boston. In particular, the . At the same time, political relations became so strong that Glasgow is set to be twinned with the city.
