RB Leipzig appointed Demichelis as the new head coach

RB Leipzig announced on its official website the appointment of Martin Demichelis as the team's new head coach. The 45-year-old Argentine specialist has signed a contract with the Red Bulls until June 30, 2028. Before moving to Germany, Demichelis led Mallorca, and also had time to work in Argentina and Mexico. The former defender began his coaching career as an assistant in Malaga, after which he worked with the youth teams of Bayern. Demichelis got his first independent experience at the adult level in River Plate. Already in the debut season, he led the Argentine giant to the championship, and also won two national cups. In total, at the head of the club from Buenos Aires, the coach played 87 official matches. In 2024, the Argentine moved to the Mexican Monterrey. Under his leadership, the team reached the finals of the Mexican championship, and the coach himself worked in the position of 43 matches. Demichelis' last place of work was Mallorca. He took over the team at the end of the season at a difficult moment and managed to significantly improve the results: they won five games, went on an eight-match unbeaten streak and even beat Real Madrid. However, it was not possible to save the club from relegation from La Liga — Mallorca scored the same number of points as its competitors, but conceded in terms of additional indicators.
