Alvarez can leave Atletico for Barcelona without paying the release clause

0
Striker Julián Alvarez can unilaterally terminate his contract with Atletico Madrid and move to Barcelona without paying his €500m release clause. This is reported by Mundo Deportivo. According to the article of the rules governing the labor relations of professional athletes in Spain, when the contract is terminated at the initiative of the player without fault of the club, the latter has the right to compensation. As soon as an agreement is not reached, its amount is established by the court taking into account all the circumstances. The new club (Barcelona) is subsidiarily liable for the payment of this amount. At the same time, the RFEF is obliged to ensure the registration of the player, guaranteeing his right to work until the court decision. It is also noted that FIFA does not have the authority to intervene in the conflict between the two Spanish clubs. The situation is reminiscent of the case of Antoine Griezmann in 2019. Julián Alvarez has openly and repeatedly said that his dream is to play for Barcelona.
