Girona announced the departure of veteran goalkeeper Carlos

Girona officially announced the departure of experienced goalkeeper Juan Carlos Martin. The 38-year-old goalkeeper is leaving the Catalan club after seven years of playing in the club. Juan Carlos joined Girona in the summer of 2019 and became one of the key figures of the team. During that time, he made 125 official appearances and helped the club return to La Liga in 2022. Ukrainian goalkeeper Vladyslav Krapyvtsov is currently playing for Girona. In the 2025/26 season, he played three matches for the Catalans, while Paulo Gassaniga remained the team's main goalkeeper. Last season was unsuccessful for Girona. The team, for which Ukrainians Viktor Tsygankov, Vladyslav Vanat and Vladyslav Krapyvtsov also play, finished the Spanish championship in 19th place and were relegated from Primera. After the relegation, head coach Michel, who officially headed Ajax, also left the club. The new coach of Girona is Quique Alvarez, who will prepare the team to fight for a return to the elite division.
