0
Former Napoli coach Antonio Conte may soon become the new head coach of the Italian national team. This was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. According to the source, the new president of the Italian Football Federation, Giovanni Malago, is considering the candidacy of the 56-year-old specialist as part of a long-term project. Conte is expected to sign a contract with the national team until the summer of 2030, the cycle leading up to the World Cup in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. One of the key tasks of the coach will be the formation of a competitive team for the next World Cup. The day before, Conte left Napoli, which he had been in charge of since July 2024. Under his leadership, the team played 91 matches (54 wins, 19 draws and 18 losses) and won two trophies — the Serie A championship (2024/25) and the Italian Super Cup (2025/26). Conte previously worked with the Italian national team in 2014-2016.
