Arsenal targeted two Newcastle stars at once — the broadcaster

Arsenal continue their search for a new central midfielder and have already begun work on two high-profile candidates.
According to the broadcaster, the London club held preliminary negotiations regarding the possible transfers of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.
According to the source, Arsenal's representatives contacted the entourage of both footballers to find out the terms of potential transfers. At the same time, no official offers have yet been received directly from Newcastle.
The Magpies have no intention of parting ways with their key midfielders. This is especially true of team captain Bruno, who remains one of the club's leaders despite having two more years on his contract.
As for Tonali, Newcastle value the Italian at around £100m, according to a source. Previously, the club was worth about 80 million pounds.
Arsenal are set to make just one big midfield signing this summer. In addition to the two Newcastle players, sporting director Andrea Berta is also considering Bournemouth's Alex Scott, Lille's Ayoub Bouaddi and West Ham's Mateusz Fernandes.
Berta traditionally works in parallel on several transfer directions before deciding on a priority target. The arrival of a new central midfielder could also lead to the departure of one of Arsenal's current players. In particular, the club is ready to consider offers for Christian Nerhor.
Despite the interest of the Gunners, Newcastle hope to keep their main stars. After a difficult season, the club does not want to lose several key players at once and intends to build a team around Bruno and Tonali.
