The former most expensive defender in the world announced the end of his career

Elyakim Mangala officially ended his professional football career. As RMC Sport reports, the former central defender of the French national team decided to retire from football at the age of 35.
Mangala was once the most expensive defender in the world when Manchester City bought him from Porto in 2014 for around €45 million. Despite high expectations, he failed to gain a foothold in the English club.
In his career, the Frenchman also played for Porto, Valencia, Everton, Saint-Etienne and other clubs, and also played 8 matches for the French national team. At the international level, he participated in the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016.
During his entire football career, the player lifted 10 trophies over his head. Among which: Championship of Belgium,
Belgian Cup, Belgian Super Cup, Portuguese Championship twice and Portuguese Super Cup twice, Premier League and League Cup twice
The defender spent the last years of his career in less prestigious championships, after which he decided to end his playing career.
