The former midfielder of Manchester United, Chelsea and the Spanish national team Juan Mata became one of the shareholders of the Australian club Melbourne Victory.
The press service of the representative of the A-League officially announced the addition of the 38-year-old world champion in 2010 to the number of co-owners.
Mata is also expected to join the club's board of directors in the future. At the same time, the Spaniard has not yet decided whether he will continue his professional career next season.
Melbourne Victory have already been told that Mata will head up a newly formed football operations committee after his performances.
"Last season on the pitch was a huge pleasure for me and investing in Melbourne Victory as a shareholder was the logical next step for me.
I truly believe in the future of Australian football. From my first day at Melbourne Victor, I felt the passion of this club and the potential of the league.
I want to be a part of what awaits us ahead, and not just for one season, but in the long term," said Mata.
