Ukraine started with a bright victory over Croatia at Euro U-19

The youth national team of Ukraine U-19 started its performance at the 2026 European Championship with a spectacular victory over Croatia U-19 — 3:1 in the match of the first round of the group stage. The match turned out to be difficult for the Ukrainians, but the team managed to turn the tide of the game even before the break and confidently lead the match to victory.
The Croatians were the first to open the scoring - in the 22nd minute, Ivan Barych scored a penalty kick, hitting the bottom corner of the goal. However, Dmytro Mykhaylenko's wards responded quickly: already in the 26th minute, Dmytro Bohdanov restored balance, accurately heading in after a corner kick.
After the break, the Ukrainians picked up the pace and completely seized the initiative. In the 48th minute, Nikita Kalyuzhny led the team to the lead, hitting well from a sharp corner. And in the 57th minute, Pavlo Lusin made the score 3:1 with a long shot into the lower right corner.
At the end of the meeting, Croatia U-19 tried to get back into the game - Angelo Šutalo even hit the post with a header in stoppage time, but the hosts could not change the result. Ukraine U-19 confidently won the match and started the tournament with three points.
