Neuer repeated the anti-record of Carbajal, which stood for more than 60 years

The German national team continued its unsuccessful streak at the World Cup, conceding goals in ten matches in a row. The next match in this series was the match of the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Paraguay, in which the Germans drew 1:1 in regular and extra time, and then lost in a penalty shootout — 3:4. In all ten matches, the goal of the German national team was defended by Manuel Neuer. The last time the German team kept a clean sheet was in the 2014 World Cup final, when they beat Argentina 1-0. Thus, the 40-year-old Neuer repeated the anti-record of Mexican goalkeeper Antonio Carbajal, who missed in ten consecutive World Cup matches between 1950 and 1962.
