Midtjylland announced the return of Rasmus Christensen. The 28-year-old Denmark international joined from Eintracht Frankfurt and signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2031. For the player, this is a return to the club where he passed an important stage of formation. It was through Midtjylland's system that Christensen took the first steps to big football, and later went to build a career abroad. The sports director of the club, Christian Bach Buck, called the transfer important not only from a football point of view, but also from a strategic point of view. According to him, the club strives to have strong Scandinavian leaders who are able to set high standards in the team. He also emphasized that Christensen knows the culture of the club very well and has considerable experience gained in leading European championships and the Danish national team. The football player himself admitted that the decision to return was a conscious choice. "For me, everything is first and foremost about the right moment for my family and myself, as well as the special opportunity to return to FC Midtjylland. This is my club. I was in a good situation in Frankfurt, so it's a very conscious choice. I'm coming back because I believe in this project and I see an important role for myself in the further development of the club," Christensen said. The defender also emphasized that the club has changed significantly during his absence, but has kept the main thing - the desire to constantly progress. "A lot of changes have happened. The infrastructure has become better, the club has grown in many aspects. But many people have remained the same, and the desire to become stronger has not disappeared anywhere. That's what attracts me," the football player said. Christensen left Midtjylland in 2018, joining Ajax Amsterdam. He later played for Red Bull Salzburg, Leeds United, Roma and Eintracht. As part of the German club, the Dane played 71 matches, scored nine goals and provided four assists. The defender made his debut for the Danish national team in 2021. Since then, he played 34 matches and scored two goals. The football player also participated in the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship. The new contract is for five years, and Christensen himself does not hide his ambition to help the club fight for the highest places. "The five-year deal speaks for itself. I believe in this project and want to have a big impact on the team. My goal is to help the club win the championship. The fans can be sure that I will give everything for Midtjylland, because this club has always meant something special to me," the player concluded.
