Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal has openly stated that he would be delighted to see Atletico Madrid striker Julián Alvarez at the Catalan club next season. The young winger made the corresponding statement in an interview with Cadena SER on Tuesday.
A real drama is unfolding around the future Argentine forward. Although he did not publicly name his desired club last week, sports media sources report that his priority is to move to Barca. The situation caused serious indignation in Madrid.
Mattress Firm CEO Miguel Angel Marin Barcelona are in disrespect to the club over their attempts to lure the player. Alvarez is also being chased by PSG, Arsenal and Real Madrid. the latter in the amount of 150 million euros
"I don't think too much about it, but I would really like it, because Alvarez is a great player. If he comes, we will welcome him with open arms. If I were in his place, I would do it. We will wait for him if he wants to come. I say: go ahead," Yamal commented on the situation.
While transfer passions rage at the club level, 18-year-old Yamal is focused on performances for the national team. The team is currently flying from its base in Chattanooga to Los Angeles for Thursday's Round of 16 match against Austria.
For Yamal, this world championship was the first in his career. Before the tournament, he was recovering from an injury, so head coach Luis de la Fuente gradually integrated him into the game during the group stage.
"I'm learning. International football is different from club football. I'm gaining experience and understanding how to deal with coming back from injury... I feel great now and I'm looking forward to Thursday," shared Lamin.
Spain topped the group stage after drawing with Cape Verde, beating Saudi Arabia and beating Uruguay
"It's true that everyone expected a better performance from us, but we played against different teams, none of which were European. They were tough matches. I don't think we played a really great match, but once we pick up the pace - and we definitely will - we will be almost unstoppable," the winger said confidently.
