Polish Lehia officially announced the appointment of a new head coach. Ukrainian specialist Vladyslav Lupashko became him.
The 39-year-old coach signed a long-term contract with the team from Gdańsk, which will be valid until June 30, 2029. In the near future, the Ukrainian will start working with the team, which will play in the second division of Poland in the new season.
Lehia noted that Lupashko is considered one of the most promising young coaches in Eastern Europe. The club noted his modern approach to football, his ability to develop players and build teams that demonstrate an attacking style of play.
Lupashko began his coaching career in Ingulka, where he first worked as an assistant, and later led the team. In his first season as head coach, he led the club to victory in the First League of Ukraine and promotion to the UPL, for which he was recognized as the best coach of the First League for the 2023/24 season.
The next stage in the career of the Ukrainian specialist was the Carpathians. After the Lviv club returned to the elite division, Lupashko helped the team finish in sixth place.
The new mentor faces a difficult task. Lehia is going through a difficult period due to financial problems and transfer restrictions, but the club hopes that it is Lupashko who can lay the foundation for the team's return to the Polish Ekstraklasa.
