Arsenal agree €20m Trossard sale to Besiktas

0
Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle to sell attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard to Turkish side Besiktas, sources at The Athletic have confirmed. The 31-year-old Belgian is set to move to Istanbul for a fee of €20 million. The deal fits into Arsenal’s new strategy of offloading players whose contracts run until the summer of 2027, avoiding losing them for free later on. Trossard joined the Gunners from Brighton in January 2023 and quickly became a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s system. Last season was a triumphant one for the winger. He played 50 matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists. His consistent performances helped Arsenal end a 20-year wait for the Premier League title. Despite the impending move, Trossard’s focus remains on international duty with Belgium at the World Cup. He played a key role in the Red Devils’ stunning comeback against Senegal in the Round of 32. Next up for Rudi Garcia’s side is a tough quarterfinal clash against the United States on Tuesday, July 7, with kickoff at 03:00 Kyiv time. The official announcement of Trossard’s transfer to Besiktas is expected after Belgium’s World Cup campaign concludes.
