Hervé Renard steps down as Tunisia boss after disastrous World Cup 2026 campaign

Tunisia are once again on the hunt for a new head coach. Hervé Renard has officially announced his resignation following the Carthage Eagles' nightmare World Cup 2026 campaign, where they failed to pick up a single point. The Frenchman took over during the tournament after Sabri Lamouchi was sacked following a heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in the opening group match. But the change at the helm did little to turn things around. Tunisia went on to lose 4-0 to Japan and 3-1 to the Netherlands, crashing out of the group stage with zero points. After the team's elimination, Renard addressed the fans with a farewell message. Thank you to everyone who stood by me during this adventure. My story here is complete," the 57-year-old said. This marks Renard's second resignation in just a few months. He had stepped down in the spring, despite having led Tunisia to qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
