Erling Haaland sends Brazil crashing out of World Cup 2026 with stunning double

0
Norway pulled off a massive upset on the global stage, knocking five-time world champions Brazil out of the 2026 World Cup with a 2-1 victory in the Round of 16. Erling Haaland was the hero, scoring twice in the second half to send the Scandinavians into the quarterfinals. Brazil had the perfect chance to take the lead early when Bruno Guimaraes stepped up for a penalty in the 14th minute, only to see his effort saved by Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland. That miss seemed to unsettle the Seleção as Norway grew into the game and began to dictate play. Haaland broke the deadlock in the 79th minute, slotting home after a clever pass from Martin Ødegaard. He doubled the lead with just 11 minutes remaining, capitalizing on a defensive lapse. Neymar pulled one back from the spot deep into stoppage time (90+10), but it was too little, too late. Brazil: Alisson – Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Douglas Santos – Rayan (Danilo Oliveira, 68), Bruno Guimaraes (Ederson, 79), Casemiro, Gabriel Martinelli (Neymar, 68) – Matheus Cunha (Endrick, 58), Vinícius Júnior. Norway: Nyland – Ryerson (Aursnes, 63), Ajer, Heggem, Møller Wolfe – Ødegaard, Berge, Berg – Sørloth (Bobb, 46), Haaland, Nusa (Schjelderup, 46). Booking: Neymar.
