Tottenham complete record £100m signing of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of central midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a record-breaking deal worth €117 million. The 26-year-old Italian becomes the most expensive signing in the club's history. Tonali has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2032. According to reports, his annual salary will be in the region of €12 million — making him the highest earner in the Spurs dressing room. Speaking after the move was confirmed, Tonali said: “I’m really happy to be here. When I arrived at the club today, it was an incredible feeling. I spent almost two hours talking to the head coach — about the club, the fans, the stadium, and the way we play. It felt like magic because I immediately knew I wanted to sign for Tottenham. “I’ve played against this team a few times, and I’ve always felt the amazing atmosphere the supporters create. I can’t wait for the new season to start.” In the 2025/26 season, Tonali made 53 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions, scoring three goals.
