Monaco Appoints Filipe Luis as Head Coach

Monaco have officially named Filipe Luis as their new head coach, with the 40-year-old Brazilian putting pen to paper on a deal running through June 2028. The appointment marks Luis' first European coaching venture after two prolific seasons at Flamengo. During his tenure, the Brazilian side stacked up an impressive haul of silverware: the 2024 Copa do Brasil, the 2025 Supercopa do Brasil, the 2025 Campeonato Carioca, the 2025 Brasileirão Série A, and the 2025 Copa Libertadores. In 99 matches in charge of Flamengo, Luis racked up 62 wins, 21 draws, and only 16 losses. That record earned him the South American Coach of the Year award for 2025. Now the challenge shifts to Ligue 1, where Monaco hope his winning pedigree will translate across the Atlantic.
