Switzerland’s World Cup star likely to miss Colombia clash

0
Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi is a serious doubt for Monday’s World Cup 2026 round of 16 tie against Colombia after picking up a knee injury in the final training session. The 20-year-old Freiburg player avoided severe damage, but Sky Sport DE reports he is highly unlikely to be fit for the knockout fixture. The Swiss already have a growing injury list. Michel Aebischer and defender Luca Jaquez were already ruled out, while wide attacker Ruben Vargas and midfielder Djibril Sow also cut short their last training session, adding to the concerns. Manzambi has been Switzerland’s standout performer at the tournament, leading the team with three goals and two assists in four games. Losing him would be a major blow to their attacking threat. The match kicks off at 21:00 BST / 16:00 ET at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada. The winner will face either Argentina or Egypt in the quarter-finals on July 12.
