Ocheretko: New signings will definitely help Shakhtar this season

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Oleg Ocheretko took part in an online meeting with participants of the Shakhtar Social charity foundation’s projects. He opened up about his most memorable career moment, assessed the club’s transfer window, and drew comparisons between the approaches of Ukraine’s national team coach and Arda Turan.
“Events like this are hugely important for children. I’m glad Shakhtar organizes them so we can interact more. I remember when I was a kid seeing footballers — it felt incredible, like meeting the president, I was even afraid to walk up and shake their hand. So I want to give kids positive emotions and see their smiles during these tough times. I wish them to believe in themselves and always strive to be first,” the midfielder shared.
Ocheretko’s most memorable match was his Champions League debut against Celtic. He admitted he hadn’t even expected to be on the bench, but the coach gave him a chance. “I was really happy, even though it came as a bit of a surprise,” he added.
The 23-year-old also spoke about Shakhtar’s summer arrivals. “The club made some good transfers. We’ve already seen how they handle the ball. I think these players will help the team. Their adaptation is going great because we’re all supporting them,” he said.
Ocheretko also noted similarities between the demands of Ukraine’s head coach and those of Arda Turan. “It’s about playing with the ball, keeping control, and winning it back quickly so we always have possession. There are actually quite a few common points,” he explained.
Finally, he admitted that pre-match nerves faded over time with more high-level experience, and advised young players to ignore mockery and focus on their own future.
