Dynamo Kyiv defender Tomasz Kędziora shared his thoughts ahead of the first qualifying round of the Europa League against Romanian side Universitatea Craiova.
The Polish full-back admitted he would have preferred to play such matches in Ukraine, but acknowledged the chance to face the opponent in Poland is a good alternative.
“Of course, you always want to play at home in Ukraine, but if there’s an opportunity to hold the game in Poland, that’s great too. My family and friends can come to the stadium and see everything with their own eyes,” Kędziora said.
He also spoke about having compatriot Maciej Kędzorek on the coaching staff. “It’s nice to have someone from Poland to talk to. But I don’t need much adaptation — I came back in good shape and feel fine.”
Kędziora, one of the more experienced players in the squad, emphasized the importance of senior players mentoring the younger ones. “It’s logical that older players pass on their experience. And I’m happy the head coach sees me as his assistant on the pitch. I appreciate that trust.”
The first leg takes place on Wednesday, July 9, at 8:00 PM local time in Poland. The return leg is scheduled for July 16.
