Marseille agree Greenwood sale to Fenerbahce – Man United owed significant cut

0
Marseille are closing in on a deal that will send Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club having reached an agreement with the French side over a transfer worth €40 million plus add-ons, according to RMC Sport. The 24-year-old forward has already accepted personal terms on a four-year contract with Fenerbahce, leaving only the final paperwork to complete the move. Crucially, Manchester United are also involved. When Greenwood left Old Trafford for Marseille last summer, the Premier League club inserted a 40% sell-on clause into the agreement. That means United are in line to collect a sizeable chunk of the fee Fenerbahce will pay. Greenwood has produced strong numbers this season: 19 goals and 8 assists across 45 appearances in all competitions. In Ligue 1 alone, he netted 16 times and set up 7 more in 32 games. He also scored 3 goals and added 1 assist in 8 Champions League outings, while featuring in the French Cup and Trophée des Champions. His time in France appears to be over, with a new chapter now set to begin in Istanbul.
