Ukraine U-19 knocked out of Euro semifinal by Germany with 90+1 winner

0
Ukraine's Under-19 side came within minutes of reaching the European Championship final, but a stoppage-time strike from Germany captain Francis Onyeka shattered their dreams. Vitaliy Glut headed Ukraine ahead in the 43rd minute, finishing off a cross from Nikita Kalyuzhny. But Germany responded just before halftime – Otto Stange turned in the box and fired low past the goalkeeper after a pass from Mamuza Lum. The second half saw Germany push harder, with Yegor Sherstyuk and goalkeeper Nazar Domchak making crucial interventions. Just as extra time seemed inevitable, Onyeka collected Stange's assist and smashed home a powerful left-footed shot in the first minute of added time. Germany U-19 will face Spain in the final on July 11. Dmytro Mykhaylenko's squad leaves the tournament with heads held high, having fallen just short of the title match. Ukraine U-19: Domchak – Kokodynyak, Sherstyuk, Dihtyar, Malov – Soroka, Lyusin – Glut, Sykut (Olychenko, 46), Kalyuzhny (Kamenskyi, 82) – Bohdanov (Popov, 89). Germany U-19: Gelshtern – Nink, Schmetgens, Erlein, Pinto – Katović, Mamuza – Reimers (Fields, 75), Onyeka (Engels, 90+3), Kalbret – Stange.
