Granit Xhaka: 'Family and Sunderland are my choice' – Swiss star turns down Chelsea

Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka has opened up about his decision to reject Chelsea and remain with the club he joined last summer. The Swiss international insists he feels completely at home at the Stadium of Light and that family considerations were the decisive factor. “Sunderland has been my home from day one. We are all very happy here. I chose to stay where I am. My family is the most important thing. I’m ready to create history with this club,” Xhaka said. Reports had indicated Chelsea were pushing to sign the experienced midfielder, but Xhaka personally informed the London club that he had no intention of moving.
