Real Madrid target McTominay: Mourinho wants reunion with Scotsman

Napoli’s Scott McTominay could be on his way back to the elite level — this time with Real Madrid. According to journalist Nicolò Schira, new Los Blancos head coach José Mourinho has personally pushed for the signing of the Scottish midfielder. Mourinho knows McTominay well from their time together at Manchester United and sees him as a perfect fit for the center of the park at the Santiago Bernabéu. McTominay joined Napoli from Manchester United in 2024 for €30 million, signing a contract that runs through June 30, 2028. In the 2025/26 season, the 28-year-old racked up 44 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A side, scoring 14 goals and adding four assists. Transfermarkt currently values him at €40 million. The move is still in the rumour stage, but the interest from the Spanish capital is genuine.
