Courtois hints 2026 World Cup could be his last for Belgium

Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that the 2026 World Cup could mark the end of his international career. “The probability of me leaving is greater than the probability of me continuing to play for the national team. We’ve shared many happy moments, but I don’t think I can keep going at the same level — purely for physical reasons,” Courtois told L'Equipe. The 34-year-old shot-stopper has represented Belgium since 2011, earning 114 caps and keeping 57 clean sheets in that time. On Friday, July 10, Belgium face Spain in the World Cup 2026 quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 10:00 PM.
