Georgiy Bushchan Makes Polissya Move Permanent: 'My Dream Is to Return to the National Team'

0
Goalkeeper Georgiy Bushchan has completed a permanent switch to Zhytomyr-based Polissya after his contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab was terminated by mutual agreement. The 32-year-old Ukrainian joins on a free transfer, signing a deal that runs until June 2028. Bushchan had already spent the 2025/26 season with the club on loan. “There’s no difference for me between a loan and a full contract — I’m staying at Polissya, a club with huge ambitions, and that helps me keep going. To be honest, I haven’t said my final word yet. The past year was tough career-wise, but I was won over by the squad, the club, and president Hennadiy Vladyslavovych with his ambitions. They confirmed that I should stay and keep fighting for my place,” Bushchan told Polissya’s official media. The keeper also reflected on his time in the Saudi Pro League: “I remember Al-Shabab fondly — only positive emotions. I played in a good league and a strong team. Not everything worked out, but that’s football. I have nothing bad to say — just thank you and move on.” Bushchan’s biggest dream remains a return to the Ukraine national team. He last pulled on the blue-and-yellow shirt in June 2024, a 3–1 defeat to Poland in Warsaw. Across 18 caps, he has conceded 30 goals and kept three clean sheets. Looking ahead to Polissya’s new season, Bushchan said: “Our prospects are quite good, but we have to work. I’ve been in teams where you’re always expected to deliver. Every season is a new challenge — you have to prove your status. It’s tough, but you must go step by step.”
