Jarell Quansah Suspended for Two World Cup Matches
0
England defender Jarell Quansah will miss the next two matches of the 2026 World Cup after FIFA handed him a suspension, according to insider Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge in the Round of 16 clash against Mexico – a game England won 3-2. Despite the victory, the tackle left the Three Lions a man down for a stretch, and the disciplinary panel decided a two-game ban was warranted.
As a result, Quansah will be absent for the quarterfinal tie against Norway, which kicks off on the night of Saturday, July 11 (00:00 local time). Should England advance, he will also miss the semifinal.
It is a significant blow for Gareth Southgate's side, as Quansah had established himself as a key figure in central defense throughout the tournament. The coaching staff will now have to reshuffle for the business end of the competition.
