Vitaliy Glut: 'We reached the top four at the Euros — that's a great result'

Ukraine youth national team winger Vitaliy Glut spoke after his side's 2-1 semifinal loss to Germany at the 2026 European Under-19 Championship. "Of course we wanted to go all the way, but that's football. I'm really happy for the team. Reaching the top four at this tournament is a very good outcome," Glut said. The winger admitted the competition will stay with him for a long time. He joined up with the squad directly from Croatia, where he had been taking part in another event. Everything happened very quickly, but he's glad it worked out. "In the first half we had to sit back a bit. Then we got on the ball more, but we lost focus at a crucial moment, and that cost us. As for my goal — I saw Kalyuzhnyi ready to cross, the defender wasn't watching me, and I'm happy I managed to finish," he added. Glut noted that Ukraine won three of their four matches at the tournament, which shows the team's potential. "I'm grateful to everyone. We have everything ahead of us, and I believe in our prospects," the winger concluded. Earlier it was reported that the Ukraine youth team is already looking toward the 2027 U-20 World Cup.
