Wolfsburg and Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen will begin an individual rehabilitation program in his home country following the health scare that cut short a friendly against Ukraine.
According to the German club’s official statement, the 34-year-old is heading to Denmark after discussing the situation with Wolfsburg president Dieter Hecking. The club stressed they remain in close contact with the player and wish him a full recovery as soon as possible.
The match between Ukraine and Denmark was stopped in the 65th minute after Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. The Danish playmaker grabbed his chest and lost consciousness, prompting both sets of players to urgently call for medical staff. He was later stretchered off by an emergency response team.
At the time of the stoppage, Denmark held the lead. The game’s goals came from Patrick Dorgu, Joakim Maehle, and Viktor Tsygankov.
