Deschamps: 'We overcame a serious barrier, but we're exactly where we wanted to be'

France head coach Didier Deschamps reflected on his side's 2-0 quarter-final win over Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "It was a tough match. We missed a penalty and had several chances that we didn't take. There's no issue with Kylian Mbappé — he never doubts himself, even though he had a goalscoring opportunity before he actually scored. We are exactly where we wanted to be. Now we'll recover well and see who our next opponent will be. I can imagine the excitement and passion back in France right now. We're in our own bubble here, and I'm even more isolated. But this is what we came for, and it's the players' duty to give everything to go as far as possible.
