Jorge Jesus officially appointed Portugal head coach

The Portuguese Football Federation has officially confirmed the appointment of Jorge Jesus as the new head coach of the national team. The 71-year-old tactician takes over from Roberto Martinez, whose tenure ended after Portugal were knocked out in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by Spain. Jesus has signed a four-year deal that will see him lead the Seleção through the qualifying campaign and finals of Euro 2028, as well as the 2030 World Cup. Most recently, Jesus managed Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, guiding them to the Saudi Pro League title last season. During his time at the club, he worked with Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix — both of whom are now under his charge again at the international level.
