Xabi Alonso: 'Chelsea is the challenge I've been waiting for'

New Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso held his first press conference, laying out his vision for the London club. The Spanish tactician stressed that his appointment came at the perfect time for both parties. 'It's an enormous privilege to take charge of one of the world's great clubs. He highlighted the quality of the squad and their ability to compete at the highest level, particularly in the Premier League, as decisive factors. The former midfielder admitted he is looking forward to his first match on the Chelsea bench, having mostly experienced the stadium as an opponent. 'I'm sure I'll get goosebumps walking out as head coach. Those are special days, and we're preparing to give the fans a real show,' he added.
