Switzerland midfielder Remo Freuler didn't hold back after his side's 1-3 quarterfinal defeat to Argentina at the 2026 World Cup. At the center of his frustration was the officiating, particularly the red card shown to Breel Embolo. "It's simply a disaster. I don't know what this referee is doing out there. Why call a foul in that situation? There were plenty of challenges in the first half, some of which probably should have been yellow cards. I just don't get it. How can VAR change the course of the game over something like that?" Freuler told The Athletic.
