Ajax target Azzedine Ounahi as Michel seeks Girona reunion

Azzedine Ounahi could be heading to the Eredivisie. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Ajax have set their sights on the Girona midfielder. The driving force behind the move is new Ajax head coach Michel, who previously worked with the 26-year-old Morocco international during his time at the Catalan club. Ounahi’s contract contains a €25 million release clause, but Ajax are hoping to negotiate a lower fee — Girona were relegated from La Liga to the Segunda División, weakening their bargaining position. Last season, Ounahi made 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and adding three assists. Earlier reports had linked the midfielder with other European clubs, but Ajax now appear to be the frontrunners.
