Lorenzo Pellegrini turns down Inter, Juventus and Napoli to sign new Roma deal

Lorenzo Pellegrini may have technically been a free agent for the past two weeks, but his future was never really in doubt. The Roma captain has agreed to a new contract with the club, rejecting advances from three Serie A powerhouses in the process. Throughout the second half of last season, Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli all made their interest known in the 30-year-old attacking midfielder. Yet Pellegrini kept his focus on sorting out his situation at Roma, even after his previous deal expired. The two sides couldn't get the paperwork done before the deadline, but they eventually found common ground. The new contract runs through 2028, with an option for an additional season. Pellegrini will earn €2.5 million per year plus bonuses. Last season, the Italian international appeared in 33 matches across all competitions, scoring seven goals and adding four assists. For Roma supporters, this commitment signals that their captain is staying put for the long haul.
