Universitatea Cluj lose Supercup, shift focus to Dynamo Kyiv in Europa League

Universitatea Cluj are still searching for their first Romanian Supercup title after falling to Universitatea Craiova on penalties in Sunday's showdown. The match ended 1-1 in regulation. Steven Nsimba put Craiova ahead in the 40th minute, but Alibek Aliev pulled Cluj level in the 53rd. The penalty shootout tilted Craiova's way, 5-3, handing them their second Supercup — the first came back in 2021. Cristiano Bergodi's side now turn their attention to continental duty. They face Dynamo Kyiv in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, with the tie deadlocked at 0-0 after the first leg. The decisive second leg kicks off on July 16 at 20:30.
