Fiorentina to Keep De Gea: Spanish Keeper Stays Despite Big Wages

David De Gea isn't going anywhere. Fiorentina have opted to keep the 35-year-old Spanish goalkeeper, according to insider Nicolo Schira. Despite his €3 million per season salary, the Viola brass have decided the veteran's experience is worth the investment. De Gea's current deal with the Serie A side runs through the summer of 2028. Last season, he featured in 46 matches across all competitions, keeping 13 clean sheets while conceding 59 goals. Those numbers, combined with his pedigree, convinced the club to retain him rather than seek a replacement. The decision puts an end to speculation over the former Manchester United and Spain international's future. De Gea joined Fiorentina in 2024 after a spell away from the game, and now he's set for another year – and more – in Florence.
