Erling Haaland: 'This World Cup changed Norway and changed me'

Erling Haaland has reflected on Norway's run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, calling the experience the most exhilarating journey of his life. The Norwegians bowed out after extra time in the last eight, but the striker said the tournament left an indelible mark on him and his country.
"It was the coolest weeks and the most exciting trip I've ever been on. It doesn't feel real right now — you feel a bit empty. But when you quickly sum up those 40 days, it was absolute madness. A show, a rollercoaster we've been riding for the last six weeks. So many impressions, so many emotions!" Haaland told Goal.com.
Haaland highlighted the victory over Brazil as a standout moment, but what struck him most was how the team put Norway on the global stage. "I think it changed Norway. It changed me. It's quite hard to grasp... This group of players is just fantastic. I hope our journey inspires young people back home — shows them you can play on the biggest stage in a Norway shirt," he added.
The Manchester City forward (no club named in source) scored seven goals and provided one assist in five appearances at the 2026 World Cup. Earlier, his father Alf-Inge Haaland wished England success in the tournament.
