Didier Deschamps has officially become the manager with the most matches in FIFA World Cup history. The France boss took charge of his 26th game at the tournament during the 2026 semifinal against Spain, surpassing the previous mark of 25 held by Germany’s Helmut Schön. The 57-year-old now stands alone at the top of the all-time list. Brazil’s Carlos Alberto Parreira sits third with 23 matches as a head coach at World Cups. Deschamps has been in charge of Les Bleus since 2012. Under his guidance, France reached the quarterfinals in 2014, won the title in 2018, and finished as runners-up in 2022 after a penalty shootout loss to Argentina.
