Manchester United Open Talks for Manu Koné – Romano

Manchester United have stepped up their search for a defensive midfielder and made initial contact with Roma's Manu Koné. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, United officials recently reached out to the Frenchman's representatives. Despite summer arrivals Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, the club still wants a physically imposing holding midfielder. Koné is a candidate, but no final decision has been made. The approach comes after the collapse of a deal for Atalanta's Ederson, which forced United to reshuffle their priority list. Alongside Koné, Wolverhampton's João Gomes is also under consideration. For now, talks remain at an early stage and other names are still on United's shortlist.
