Sunderland Officially Signs Thomas Meunier

Sunderland have officially confirmed the signing of veteran Belgium international Thomas Meunier on a free transfer. The 34-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a two-year contract that runs through the summer of 2028. Meunier’s last club was Lille, where he left after his deal expired. Early last month, he was close to joining Valencia, but ultimately opted for a side set to compete in European competition. The Belgian full-back brings a wealth of experience, with over 550 club appearances and 83 caps for his country. He also featured in this summer's 2026 World Cup. Over the course of his career, Meunier has played for Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Trabzonspor, and Lille. During his time at PSG, he won three Ligue 1 titles and multiple domestic cups.
