Strasbourg to run the rule over Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina
0
Strasbourg are weighing up a move for Chelsea shot-stopper Gabriel Slonina and have brought the American in for a closer look.
According to L'Equipe, the 22-year-old has already arrived in Alsace, where he will undergo a trial period before any decision is made on his immediate future. New Strasbourg boss Hugo Oliveira wants to assess whether Slonina fits the profile his side needs, with particular attention on his distribution and comfort with the ball at his feet.
Should the US international impress during the evaluation, the Ligue 1 outfit will explore either a loan deal or a permanent transfer. Slonina remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2028. He joined Chelsea from Chicago Fire in 2022 and has since gained first-team experience on loan at Belgian side Eupen and English club Barnsley.
Meanwhile, another Chelsea goalkeeper — Dane Filip Jörgensen — is also considered a potential departure this summer, though Slonina is the primary focus for now.
