After a painful defeat by the Argentina national team in the semi-finals of the World Cup, the head coach of England, Thomas Tuchel, openly pointed out the weaknesses of his team. According to him, England must learn to cope better with the pressure of major tournaments in order to finally close the gap with the leading nations. England's failure to finish the game against the Argentinians was a worrying repetition of old mistakes. The team once again lost the advantage in an important match, as it already happened in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2018 against Croatia and in the final of Euro 2020 against Italy. Tuchel suggested that currently in the DNA of the English national team there is no skill to effectively control the ball and the game in critical situations. He admitted that there is an obvious difference between his wards and national teams that have behind them a series of victories in major tournaments. I think the gap exists because of the titles held by the national teams of Argentina, France and  Spain. Because of what they have built over the years with the coaches and the team. We still need to bridge this small gap. It can be seen even in the expectations of these countries regarding victory at the World Cup and reaching the finals," explained Tuchel. The German specialist emphasized that the team sincerely dreamed of the trophy and fought for it, but it still lacks the ability to realize itself at the highest level under intense pressure. Already on Saturday, England will meet France in the consolation final for third place. Tuchel sees this match as the first step towards overcoming the mentioned barrier. "Now we are in the fourth place in the world and we are going to the semi-finals. We want to reduce this gap. It is very small, but it still needs to be overcome. It is a great position. I like to be a rival, the one who chases and challenges. Everything starts tomorrow," the driver emphasized. When asked to clarify his comments about the team's DNA, Tuchel was quick to defend his players, noting their cohesion and connection with the fans. He fondly recalled moments of unity with fans in the US, when thousands of people sang Oasis' hit Wonderwall with the team. "What the team and these players have produced over the last six-and-a-half weeks has been at the highest level in terms of unity and spirit. It reflects me and my values, by the way, and it reflects the Premier League. That is my firm belief and we will never compromise on that," the coach said. However, in summing up, Tuchel clearly outlined the main task for the future: "We have to take the next step and play better football under pressure in the tournaments. We still have to reach the next level. That is of course my responsibility with the team and we will move forward from there," the German specialist summed up. We will remind, earlier
