Ferran Torres is only the second super sub in the history of the World Cup finals

0
The Spanish national team beat Argentina in the final of the 2026 World Cup (1:0). The victory for Luis de la Fuente's team was brought by striker Ferran Torres, who had previously appeared on the field as a substitute in regular time at the 62nd minute, with a goal in the 106th minute. Thus, the striker of "Furia Roja" in the status of a super sub joined the German attacking midfielder Mario Gotze, who brought victory to his national team in the final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil precisely in a duel against Argentina. No other similar case of a successful substitution with a winning goal of one of the teams in the history of the World Cup finals has been recorded before.
