Kryvbas newcomer Satchell: 'I felt part of the team from the very first days'

Shakeon Satchell, the latest addition to Ukrainian side Kryvbas, has given his first interview since joining the club. The 22-year-old forward spoke about his move, his footballing journey in Jamaica, and how he has settled in with his new teammates. “I’m a simple and open person. I think it’s easy to get along with me, and I can be a good friend to anyone,” Satchell began. “I come from Jamaica. It’s very tough to make it as a professional footballer there — opportunities are scarce. But football is part of our life. From the age of two or three, kids play barefoot on the streets, without boots. At first it’s just fun, but later many realize that football is their path.” The Jamaican prefers to play as a No. 10, behind the striker, but describes himself as versatile — capable of operating on the right, left, or through the middle. “The most important thing for me is to help the team wherever I’m needed most,” he stressed. When he first learned of Kryvbas’ interest, Satchell was pleasantly surprised. “Honestly, I was very surprised. I knew it was a Ukrainian Premier League club that recently played in European competitions. So it was a very pleasant surprise. I was immediately excited about the chance to join the team,” he said. In Kryvyi Rih, the newcomer was welcomed with open arms. “The guys are very friendly and helped me adapt right away. The atmosphere is great, so I quickly felt part of the group,” Satchell noted. He also observed that Ukrainian has some similarities to Croatian and Slovenian, and he’s already picked up a few words he hears constantly in the dressing room and at training. As a child, his idol was Kaká; later, he fell in love with Cristiano Ronaldo’s game. “I really admire his professionalism, his approach, and his constant desire to improve. But Kaká will always remain a special footballer for me,” the striker admitted. Satchell pledged to give everything for Kryvbas. “I will give my all for this club. I will work hard every day, keep improving, help the team, and do everything I can to be useful. I hope that together with my teammates we can bring our fans many bright victories,” he concluded.
