Arsenal Confirm €40m Deal for Belgian Footballer of the Year Christos Tzolis

0
Arsenal have officially completed their third signing of the summer, finalising a €40 million transfer for Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. After a relatively quiet window so far, the Gunners have now moved decisively. The deal was agreed after Leandro Trossard’s involvement with Belgium at the 2026 World Cup cleared the way for Tzolis to arrive as a direct replacement. Mikel Arteta had been tracking the Greek international for weeks, with the player himself keen on a return to English football following his spell at Norwich between 2021 and 2024. Tzolis arrives on the back of a sensational season in Belgium. The 24-year-old winger scored 22 goals and supplied 29 assists in all competitions, leading Club Brugge to the Pro League title and earning the Belgian Footballer of the Year award. The fee marks a record sale for the Belgian side. Several top clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Roma, had shown interest, but Arsenal pushed hardest and secured Tzolis’s priority. The move had been in the pipeline since June, but Arsenal waited until Trossard’s World Cup duties were concluded before finalising the transfer. Arsenal are still believed to be pursuing Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers after England’s exit from the 2026 World Cup, and this deal is not expected to affect that chase. The Gunners also made an enquiry for Juventus’s Kenan Yildiz but were told he was not for sale, which steered them toward Tzolis as the primary alternative.
