Official: Arsenal announce Illan Meslier as second summer signing

Arsenal have confirmed their second incoming transfer of the summer window, with Mikel Arteta securing the signing of French goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer. Meslier, 26, arrives after his contract at Leeds United expired last month. He spent seven years at Elland Road, making more than 200 appearances across all competitions, including three full seasons as Leeds’ first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League. However, after Leeds won promotion from the Championship in 2025, a series of errors and inconsistent form saw him lose his place in the starting lineup. The Gunners had already made Piero Hincapie’s loan move permanent earlier in the window, but Meslier becomes the first new face to walk through the door this summer.
