Arsenal Hold Talks with Representatives of Bosnian Prodigy Kerim Alajbegovic

1
Arsenal have opened preliminary discussions with the camp of Bosnia and Herzegovina youngster Kerim Alajbegovic as they weigh up options to reinforce their left flank. The 18-year-old winger, who recently completed a €8 million move to Bayer Leverkusen from RB Salzburg, has caught the eye with his performances at the World Cup – scoring against Qatar in the group stage before Bosnia fell to the United States in the round of 32. With Gabriel Martinelli’s future at the Emirates uncertain, the Gunners have been linked with high-profile targets such as Bradley Barcola and Morgan Rogers, both of whom would command fees north of €100 million. Alajbegovic represents a more affordable, long-term project. Last season, the teenager registered 17 goal contributions in 44 appearances for Salzburg, and Leverkusen are believed to view him as a key piece for next season. Yet Arsenal have already made contact with his representatives, according to sources in England. Despite the interest, some within the club’s recruitment department question whether Alajbegovic is ready to contribute immediately at Champions League level. With Jeremy Monga also arriving from Leicester City, the Gunners may opt for a proven, experienced winger instead of taking a gamble on raw talent.
