Arsenal Transfer News Today: Bruno Guimaraes talks held as Newcastle braced for Gunners approach
sources runs through the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on , Jeremy Monga and .
Arsenal ‘hold talks’ with Bruno Guimaraes
Arsenal have held talks with the camp of Bruno Guimaraes, with Newcastle said to be ‘braced’ for an approach for their captain by the Premier League champions.
According to the media, representatives are ‘gauging the market’ for Guimaraes after an impressive 2026 World Cup campaign for Brazil so far.
The 28-year-old is one of a number of players being watched by Arsenal and it remains to be seen whether they submit a formal offer.
Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract and has not indicated any desire to leave Newcastle, but there is an awareness that his name is being discussed elsewhere.
Newcastle are also unlikely to be open to negotiations to sell their skipper, particularly after cashing in on Anthony Gordon and with Sandro Tonali likely to leave.
Arsenal ‘expected’ to sign Rogers
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs told Arsenal podcast Latte Firm: “I do expect Arsenal to sign Morgan Rogers. He is Arsenal’s leading target for left-wing and/or #10. My information is that Rogers has zero preference as to whether he’s signed as a left-winger or a #10.”
“Arsenal are expected to bid & this could move quickly. Aston Villa, even with Champions League football, are looking for a major sale to balance their books.”
“When Rogers extended last year, there was an understanding that he could leave this summer for a fee of £80m as a starting point. It’s not a release clause or gentleman’s understanding, but Villa had said they will not unduly stand in his way.”
“I’m still told engagement will start at £80m, that’s not to say it’ll be the number that secures a transfer, but that is the beginning to start a conversation with Aston Villa. I think there’s a very strong chance this deal happens.”
Monga bid rejected
The Gunners have a strong interest in Monga but a deal has not yet been finalised with Leicester and while there is confidence that a fee will be agreed, rather than requiring a sourcesl, Arsenal still need to reach a transfer agreement with the League One side.
The Times report that Arsenal have lodged an opening bid worth €5.8m (£5m) for the 16-year-old, however this has swiftly been rejected by Leicester, who are said to want €11.6m (£10m) for Monga, in addition to a 15% sell-on clause.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will return to the negotiating table with an improved offer, although multiple reporters have hinted that a deal is likely to be finalised shortly, with the Gunners therefore expected to finalise an agreement with Leicester.
Arsenal complete Hincapie deal
from Bayer Leverkusen.
Hincapie joined the Gunners on loan on transfer deadline day last summer and there was an option to make the deal permanent for €40 million, which has now been exercised and officially confirmed by the club.
The 24-year-old has penned a long-term contract with the Gunners, believed to be until 2031, with the deal having been agreed at the time of his arrival on loan for an initial fee of around €6m.
Despite joining Arsenal, Hincapie’s future has still come into question this summer amid interest from Real Madrid, however Arsenal have no plans to sell the defender and Jose Mourinho’s side are thought to have moved onto other targets.
